Rainy Day Essentials
Not bad weather, only bad clothing.

It's no secret that Portland gets much more rain than the average American city. And after 4 winters here, I can finally say that my rainy-day uniform is complete.
After a major rainstorm 2 years ago, I was very disappointed to realize that the so-called fisherman raincoat I owned (sold by a famous French brand/made in Madagascar) did not have waterproof seams!

I quickly sold it at a consignment store and invested in the one I'm wearing here during the last Black Friday sale. After a rainy season, I'm happy to report that no water made it through.
I've had a pair of tall rain boots for a couple of years, but was definitely looking into an ankle-height pair to wear on a daily basis, in Oregon weather, without compromising on style.

The Everlane Rain Boot
The Everlane rain boots are ankle height and have a Chelsea look, with a slightly more massive outsole.

Style
I like the aggressive look of these boots. They're what I look for in a pair of sturdy harsh weather shoes. I want impermeability, comfort, and traction since Portland streets and trails are muddy and slippery in the winter.
It was so hard to choose a color, but I opted for the Surplus model to contrast with my potato-colored raincoat.
Also, I may or may not use them a lot in the garden, so I chose the usual color for gardening shoes :)

Size
I ordered my actual size (8) knowing that the boots are made to be worn in one's usual size with thick winter socks. Otherwise, I would have sized down!

Comfort
This is the most comfortable pair of rain boots I've owned. The cushioned insole definitely a big part in it. They're easy to put on and take off, thanks to their and easy-to-grab pull tabs.

Care
The rubber is easy to clean. I've put them to the test working on the compost pile in my backyard and easily cleaned them by spraying them with the watering hose.

If you're considering getting a pair for yourself, I honestly highly recommend them. Don't hesitate to let me know if you have any questions, I’ll do my best to answer them!
Which color would you choose: black, surplus, stone, toffee, or pink?
