Sewing Rope Bowls
I use these tiny containers everywhere!

On a Saturday at the end of May, I came out of the bedroom at 7 pm with full-on makeup when Octave asked what happened and I just said: "I'm bored!". It made him laugh so much!
I raked my brain to see what else I could do to keep myself busy and finally decided to use that rope I had ordered ages ago in the wrong diameter (I'll just never learn the imperial system).

I had a rope basket video tutorial in my "Watch Later" playlist on YouTube just waiting to be watched, so I gathered my supplies and got to work.

It has been a process. I am impatient, so I decided to skip the part where it's recommended to switch the needle of your sewing machine for a denim needle and broke it.

Then the tension of the thread (or the width of my stitch or its length) made it jam. Or maybe it was the bobbin. Anyhow, I did get frustrated quite a few times before it finally started going smoothly... and it was time for bed.

Sunday mornings are sacred in my household, so I didn't mess up with our routine and waited until the late morning to get back in the saddle. I got really confident, went a little faster than I should have, and missed a couple of spots, but was overall satisfied with my first try.
I then decided to give it another try and document my "I've learned from my mistakes" process, expecting that everything would go smoothly.

There have been a couple more hiccups. I still did not have white thread, I still skipped a couple of spots, and my machine still jammed a couple of times, but you know what, I've enjoyed it overall!

I'm proud of having tried something new, used what I had on hand and not giving up when things first got messy.
Here's to small victories!
Oh and for a great video tutorial, I highly recommend Crafty Patti's. Let me know if you gave it a try (please send pictures :)
What's a project you've been working on these days? I'd love to know!
